The Vegan Semla
The semla is a classical Swedish pastry that is served on Shrove Tuesday. Now days even before. But it used to be served as treat after fast. During the last couple of years the Semla, whether a vegan semla or not has popped up in many shapes and flavours. As you probably know by now I love experimenting with new flavours and play around with textures. The semla, however, is one of those absolute classical pastries that I love just the way they are. Hello vegan Semla I can go as far as a vegan semla, which really is just the way the classical one is. Just allergy friendly. I can even stretch…

Vegan bounty bars
These vegan bounty bars were created because two of my best friends have different types of food allergies. But they still like sweets and honestly who doesn’t like bounty bars? Especially with only the good stuff inside them. They are not very difficult to make but they take a little bit of time the first time you make them. The vegan bounty bars need a food processor to be firm and get the right texture. The first time I made them I didn’t use a food processor and they were not as easy to work with. I have used agave syrup for my bounty bars however, you can use honey too if you like…

Mean kidney bean dip
The mean kidney bean dip will surely knock your socks off! The only thing that is as impressive as the time it takes to make (5 minutes!) is the flavour! The mean kidney bean dip is a welcome treat on our Halloween dinner table. Even my boys love it. But if you ask them they do not like beans at all. They can spot a little black bean in their tacos and will refuse to eat it. Therefore the mean kidney bean dip is simply called the dipping sauce at our house. I will never ever let them in on a little secret called the black bean brownie either. This is such an…

Roasted heirloom tomato soup
You know those days when you get home from picking up your kids from school? When you get home and you realise that you don’t have the energy to cook? Ever have those days? Those days what saves me is the roasted heirloom tomato soup. It’s a damn delicious roasted tomato soup. This season they were able to soak up the sun and they taste sweet. Close to perfection I say. Seasonal Food I love the food that is in season now. All the beautiful colours and they taste different too. There is something beautiful about the food that has been able to grow and mature during the warm summer months. Like gorgeous…

A Super smoothie to super charge you
What’s a super smoothie compared to superwomen? Nothing really. But superwomen need their superpowers. And what better way to start off than giving your body the good stuff. This is a sponsored post by Entreprenörddagen. Superpower vs. Hungry My superpower is that I can make connections with people. I love people and I think everyone carries around a collection of wonderful stories. However, let me tell you, when I’m hungry I’m not a nice person. Do you guys remember that Snicker’s commercial a few years back? The one with Aretha Franklin? If not, here it is. That is pretty much me when I’m hungry. And of course, I don’t even realise it until after I have…

Sweet potato jacket in the oven
I made a post on my Instagram this week about hell hour. Let’s continue down that road. Because let’s face it, school just started. We have a long way until Christmas break. Sweet potato jackets bake themselves in the oven. The topping takes about 5 minutes to do. That leaves you being able to do whatever else you want to do until the oven clock rings. Sweet potato jacket not only bakes itself in the oven, which gives you time to do something else. It is also a great source for getting your daily dose of vitamin A. And it's delicious too! Sweet potato jacket While not really related to the ”normal” potato they…

Shakshuka -Middle eastern quick food
Shakshuka is my favourite Middle Eastern go-to meal. It’s quick, it’s very flavourful and all it takes is 20 minutes. And if you have eggs and tomato sauce you have your base. I would say that’s pretty damn perfect. Shakshuka – what? I always mispronounce this and call it Shakshukra and my son calls it Shakira. However, you want to pronounce it – I really urge you to try it. Traditionally the recipe requires Harissa, which is a hot chilli paste. Usually, it has a smoky flavour. I didn’t have Harissa at home. Therefore I switched it up a little. Onion, tomato and garlic serve as a base in this recipe. Which incidentally is the base…

The best ice lolly recipe for kids
My kids have been living out of our freezer this summer. We have an ice lolly factory in our kitchen. It has been a tropical summer in Sweden. And we are loving every minute of it. Ice lollies for breakfast anyone? These ice lollies are very easy to make and taste like a little bit of ice lolly heaven. You can use this recipe with any kind of berry. And make a different ice lolly. But this season the strawberries have been really sweet. I guess this is what happens when berries get to grow in full sunshine. Ice lollies and sugar I use a little bit of sugar in my recipe. This…
